A Hint of Spring

A Hint of Spring

This week on the farm, it finally feels like we’re getting back into a rhythm, and honestly, that’s good for my heart. The cold weather broke, and we’re actually excited about 40-degree days—which feels bizarre coming from someone who loves the heat, but hey, I’ll take it!

Flower therapy went even better than expected this past week! Of course, there were a few bumps getting started, but once we got going, it became exactly what I had envisioned—a safe space to share vulnerabilities. We talked about the extreme weather this winter, how it’s impacted so many, and the ways we cope. We also answered some general gardening questions and shared how we tackle challenges on our farm. If you missed it, you can catch the recorded session here, and please join us for the next one on February 21st, where we’ll focus on what to do when doubt creeps in.

With the warmer temps, we took full advantage and had our first crop walk of the year as a team! Sure, some fields were still covered in snow, but we spotted signs of life—our bulbs are pushing through, and the ranunculus, anemones, and poppies are right on track for a strong spring flush.

We also checked on our field crops under the row hoops, and they’re cold but alive, just as they should be. What a relief after those plunging temps! Meanwhile, Mackenzie has been busy updating our photo op boards for the 2025 season and making beautiful new signs to help you enjoy the farm. And she’s still cranking out tulip bouquets, bringing us all a much-needed dose of early spring. These tulips have been giving us life during these gray winter days—a little pop of color goes a long way!

Catherine has been deep in the weeds (pun intended) working on our new subscription feature, which will make it super easy for you to have flowers all season long. The goal was to make it seamless for you… but let’s just say it was not seamless for poor Catherine. Turns out you practically need a PhD in programming to make our website play nice with subscriptions. But she did it! So please show her some love and grab a subscription for yourself or as a gift—here’s the link to check them out!

Mom, Steph, and I have been busy too, holed up together each week for strategic planning and team meetings. It’s been a great way to finally get to the bottom of our inboxes and reconnect with all of you. Maybe we’ll even catch each other on the phone or over email this year—I really hope so!

I’m so grateful for a busier, warmer week and can’t wait to start a fresh month next week—especially since I’m kicking it off with my birthday! Sending you all a week of happiness!

XOXO, Jess
