It always happens the same way. The minute the calendar flips to July, I get that sudden urge to dig out the sparkler stash and start blasting Dolly Parton. It’s hot, the garden is exploding, and I can’t remember what day of the week it is. But I do know one thing: it’s time to pick some flowers.
Last year over the 4th, someone showed up to the farm wearing full red, white, and blue overalls and a crown made of zinnias and I thought, “Yes. This is the exact energy I want for every summer holiday from now on.” There’s just something about being out in the field under the big sky, sweat on your neck and clippers in hand, that feels like the perfect mix of freedom and joy. And okay, maybe a little bit of chaos, but the good kind!
So if you're wondering what to do over the long weekend, may I humbly suggest: come to the farm.

Yes, I know, it’s hot. It’s Virginia in July. But the flowers are showing off like they’ve got something to prove,, and we want to share them with you! We’ll be out here all weekend, sipping iced tea and dodging the sprinkler (which is mostly for the flowers, but also sometimes for us). People wander through the rows, kids run around with petals in their hair, and there’s always one group that brings snacks and sets up like it’s their own personal backyard. Honestly, I love that.

So come out if you need a break from the crowds, or if you want something a little more peaceful than a parking lot tailgate. Come if you want a bouquet that smells like actual summer. Come if you just want to feel good for a minute, surrounded by flowers, friends, and fresh air.
We’ll be here, clippers in hand, living our best flower farm lives. Hope to see you!
XOXO, Jess
