“If you would be happy for a lifetime, grow chrysanthemums.”

If you ask a flower farmer what bloom is their favorite, they will probably tell you "that depends on the season". For us, it's the chrysanthemum all year long. We grow over 70 varieties of cut flower mums on our farm in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia (Zone 6B) from a curated collection of heirloom mother plants and hybrid plugs from our commercial suppliers.

At the end of every season, we dig up our heirloom roots and share them with farmers and gardeners across the United States. In each of our Mum Garden Boxes, you'll receive five bare-root starts from our 2021 season and basic instructions on how to keep them happy until a spectacular fall show. Perfect for cut flower production and jazzy late-fall bedding blooms, our heirloom chrysanthemums are easy to grow with some diligence and TLC.

New this year, we're also offering The Mum Plug Box, which includes 72 rooted starts (also known as plugs) from our commercial supplier Ball Horticulture. These hybrid mums are brand new varieties that we had the privilege of trialing this year on the farm. We loved them so much, we wanted to create a way that you can enjoy them... in reasonable quantities!

If you're new to growing mums, we've put together an in-depth course that will give you step-by-step instructions on how to start, grow, harvest, and winterize your mum plants. Authored by Master Grower, Jessica Hall, The Complete Guide to Growing Mums is a compilation of nearly a decade of growing high-quality chrysanthemums.

We hope you'll join us in celebrating this magical flower by growing your own mum garden!

To ensure you get the right box for you, we strongly recommend reading the entire product description before purchasing any of our mum boxes.
