The Calm Before Chrysanthemums

The Calm Before Chrysanthemums

Can you believe that we are about to send the kids back to school? Between back-to-school shopping, haircuts, and registration, my crew has me running in a million directions preparing for the upcoming academic year. I'm excited for the return of the school bus and the emptiness of my house and a break for my poor fridge and pantry. But it's been a fun run this summer with the kids bouncing around the farm, and each school year brings more classes, friends, and families out to enjoy the gardens. The kids' classrooms end up connected to the business in one way or another, and I really do savor these years of involvement.

It's also nice to have them back in school so I can give my undivided attention back to the farm during the day. With so much unfolding this fall, this focus is much needed. The fields are jawdroppingly impressive. You really need to come out and enjoy them with a pick-your-own experience if you're in the area looking for something to do. And the timing of our crops couldn't be better with our upcoming TJ and Dee Design Workshop! This two-day experience will be a cannot-miss event on the farm, featuring celebrated designers experiencing elevated design principles in an intimate, one-on-one setting, farm-fresh artisanal meals, and immersion in the world of flowers. We have a few limited spots left, so grab your seat for this can't-miss two-day experience now before you miss out!

We are also working diligently behind the scenes on our Mum Project, one of our most important works on the farm. We have planted this year's entire cut mum crop. If you want to see this season's babies growing, while you're out enjoying a cup to cut, you can sneak a peek at the crop that will begin blooming in September and really put on a show from October through November. Our Plant sale will debut online for pre-order September 1st, so set a reminder not to miss out, or sign up for updates here. We have some super fun lineups this year for you, and we can't wait to show you everything we've been working on.

The biggest shout-out this week goes to our farm team: Sarah has led the morale, and Miriam has led the charge with lots of giggles of support from Sidney and Hannah. Rob has been our pillar of "git 'er done," and it just feels like the best family ever. Thanks, guys, for all that you do to keep this place shining!
